Police getting trained to use CCTV system in orange city

41-camera CCTV system has been installed the police have started traning to use.

Technicians from Celtron, The installers of the system costing $185,000 took the police through the CCTV system showing them how they can monitor any one of cameras seperately from the system including zoom in on any problem areas.

These cameras will be on for surveillance 24/7.

£20,000 CCTV van to fight antisocial behaviour for East Lothian

To fight against the antisocial behaviour a £20,000 CCTV van has taken to the roads.

The Van is equipped with a roof-mounted CCTV camera which can rotate 360 degrees to capture high quality images will surveillance East Lothain and gather important evidence to be used in the court of law against the culprit.

No fixed time and route of operation has been determined. The Police or the community will determine the activities of the van or weekly basis. This will unable the problem maker to keep guessing the when or where about of the van in advance.

The van is capable of accommodating five personals staffed by police and member of Lothian Council’s antisocial behaviour team.

The new initiative is a part of £267,000 programme to develop CCTV across East Lothian. East Lothian Council is looking forward to expand its fixed CCTV camera network to include Port Seton and Dunbar in the news future.

CCTV cameras helped save Lincoln Shopping Mall

A mystery man helped save Lincoln shopping mall from flames by waving at CCTV cameras installed on the street.

CCTV camera operators noticed the situation at 4.31am yesterday when a young man began waving at the cameras installed, which were pointed downwards towards the street, in a desperate attempt to attract their attention.

Angela Porter, proprietor of Image bridal wear at the Shopping Mall, said: “I would like to thank CCTV for being so observant and it just shows the benefits of it. I dread to think what would have happened if the fire had been around for longer.”

CCTV footage shown at the trail of £26m Northern Bank robbery

CCTV footage has been shown images of the boxes of cash being gathered up by the man under trail of the £26m Northern Bank robbery.

The trial also heard how police were unable to access important CCTV footage from inside the Northern Bank headquarters building for at least two months after the robbery took place.

After the CCTV footage was acquired the police found recorded virtually every moment of the day of the robbery.

CCTV camera now at Anderson Park

It was suggested that a new CCTV camera be installed to cover both sides of the park to monitor along with the existing town CCTV system.

The community police officers should not be replaced by CCTV cameras, Coleraine Borough Council has heard.

This comment came as the meeting of the Leisure and Environment Committee met on Tuesday evening discussing about a plan to install a new CCTV camera to surveillance Anderson Park. The cost to ratepayers would be £5,000.

The Meeting heard that there has been a large numbers of objectionable behaviour and underage drinking issues in the close vicinity of children’s play area. Also the park ranger been injured in an assault.

Man caught on CCTV camera that shot family and pets before torching mansion

Christopher Foster murdered his wife and daughter before torching his £1.2m mansion and then killing himself.

CCTV camera footage recovered from the house shows Christopher Foster calmly walking across the yard with his .22 calibre rifle in his hand as two outhouses burn in the background. By that time he had already murdered his wife and daughter and shot dead their three horses and dogs, before setting fire to the garage and stable and another outhouse.

He was also filmed driving a horsebox, which he parks in the front of the main gate of his mansion. The CCTV footage includes him getting out of the car with rifle in his hand and bursting two tyres before entering the main building.

Police say Mr Foster then went inside the main building, boarded the windows and doors, and set fire to it. Shortly after this, he turned the gun on himself.
