Man caught on CCTV camera that shot family and pets before torching mansion

Christopher Foster murdered his wife and daughter before torching his £1.2m mansion and then killing himself.

CCTV camera footage recovered from the house shows Christopher Foster calmly walking across the yard with his .22 calibre rifle in his hand as two outhouses burn in the background. By that time he had already murdered his wife and daughter and shot dead their three horses and dogs, before setting fire to the garage and stable and another outhouse.

He was also filmed driving a horsebox, which he parks in the front of the main gate of his mansion. The CCTV footage includes him getting out of the car with rifle in his hand and bursting two tyres before entering the main building.

Police say Mr Foster then went inside the main building, boarded the windows and doors, and set fire to it. Shortly after this, he turned the gun on himself.

Teachers are doubtful about the CCTV cameras installed for surveillance in schools

August 20, 2008 raymondbond007 1 comment

Many primary and secondary teachers in the state and private schools across the UK are worried about hidden surveillance cameras in their schools.

According to the survey nearly 10% out of 249 primary & secondary school teachers say that CCTV is operating in toilets and around one quarter are worried about the hidden CCTV cameras installed in the school buildings.

The survey, conducted by the Association of Teachers and Lectures (ATL), found that most of the CCTV cameras in schools cover the grounds and entrances to building, although 85% of schools have CCTV in their buildings.

As per the survey more than half of the teachers (52.9%) say that they feel safe, the general view was that the surveillance cameras installed in the classroom are invasion of privacy and the teachers feel that they are being constantly watched and judged.

An ATL working group is looking into the use of CCTV in schools and colleges and will produce best practice guidance at the end of the year.

CCTV Camera to “hear” and capture

How about a CCTV Camera with “Ears”? British scientists are developing a technology that facilitates a CCTV camera to “hear” a crime happening and turn around to capture the event.

The researchers are working on software that can recognise sounds such as breaking glass, shouting or crowds gathering, and prompt a CCTV Camera to swing towards the noise in 300 milliseconds – the same time it would take a person to turn their head if they heard someone scream. The software may eventually be able to identify words that suggest a crime is being committed.
